Girl, Wash Your Face

Updated: Dec 28, 2020

"Take a good book to bed with you, books do not snore".

I have always had a difficult time falling asleep at night. As a person who has ALWAYS struggled with anxiety, even when I had no reason to, I had to find ways to relax my mind. Reading a good book, with some warm green tea & a bubble bath were always my go to. As life has gotten to be so busy, I tend to forget how important that time aside is.

Lately, I think we have all had some time to step back and remind ourselves what is most important in life - our mental & physical health.

I hope that through this blog, we can share thoughts and recommendations on books to continue spreading that self care.

Girls, Wash Your Face is the latest book that I have read. I am a sucker for a good self help book and I am not ashamed to admit it!

Journaling is another great way to set your mind at ease. I have found some great comfort being able to write out my raw, brutal feelings just for myself. Sometimes they are ugly, so ugly that when I finish writing them I rip it into a million pieces so that no one could possibly piece it back together to find out what is truly going on in my mind. YIKES. But guess what, when I am writing these feelings out I let myself really FEEL it. Deeply. And then when I rip that piece of paper into shreds, I also rip the negativity from my entire being and start with a fresh slate.

On the other hand, some of my written feelings are beautiful. And those are the ones that I keep. There is a shoe box in my closest full of great memories. I like to pull them out with my husband every now and again just to look back on them. It really is good for the soul.
